f&g- sam

i know this has been asked before, but i am having a ridiculous time trying to find decent vegan hiking boots. i have an old pair of garmonts, but they've been discontinued. (i'm awaiting a reply from the company to see if there's anything on their site i'm missing) does anyone know of any other brands out there that are decent? preferably with ankle support.

I love mine by wicked hemp.. mine are short but I think they have ones that go up the ankle too.

It's sale time at Vegetarian Shoes; you should check out their website, just to see. Although they do charge a fee for air freight, I've gotten some crazy bargains from them!

I had mentioned Vegan Wares when someone asked before, but I always go for Vegetarian Shoes, myself.

I've been trying to find these as well, with no luck. SO frustrating! Vegetarian Shoes does make one pair that is vaguely what I'm looking for, but it's about $200USD, not including international shipping. Way out of my price range. Sigh.

well, i did find one shoe eventually- rubber outsole, synthetic upper...it doesn't appear to have any leather etc (doubt the glue is vegan though if that's a dealbreaker)- made in the usa, good reviews, lightweight, ankle support, and won an award in backpacker magazine.

sold at shoebuy.com for $153 free shipping- http://www.shoebuy.com/treksta-evolution-mid-gtx/399017/852298

i haven't written the company or anything to ask about info not listed on the website, but it's worth looking into ;)

THAT is exactly what I was looking for! I was hoping to find something with goretex.

it took about 3 weeks of intense internet searching to find those...which i think is a really long time lol. i'm normally a 7 1/2 but an 8 running sneaker and my old boots were 8...but i ordered the 8- i think they're a bit too big so i'm awaiting the arrival of 7 1/2 to compare. just throwing that out there in case it helps. they're really comfortable though- and i didn't think i'd like anything more than my old garmonts but i can tell these are going to be so much better. they'll work quite nicely for the grand canyon trip this summer!

Awesome! Will you let me know what you think of the seven and a halfs? I saw that everestgear.com is one of the places that sells them, so I might check the everestgear store near my house to see if they have them - or if I can at least try on some by the same brand.
